The Ontario Legislative Building at Queen’s Park in Toronto is home to the offices of Ontario’s members of provincial parliament and the legislative assembly of Ontario. Built in 1893, the legislative building is the fourth of its kind, known by its pink-hued Ontario limestone exterior. Interestingly, the property is officially owned by the University of Toronto and the Government of Ontario leases it at a rate of $1 (plus HST of course) a year until 2892.
Heather & Little partnered with C.A. Venton Group of Toronto for this slate roofing and copper roofing project. Together we were able to successfully complete a new slate roof, decorative architectural sheet metal, cornice, finials, copper work and lead roofing.
Heather & Little carried out complete roofing envelope replacement including air vapor barrier, insulation, and natural slate roofing on this historically important heritage building. This project became a multi-phased restoration, requiring extensive work to multiple parts of the centre block and west wing in different materials and techniques.
