Christ Chapel, Hillsdale College, MI

Heather & Little brought their expertise to the copper clad dome and copper repoussé pinecone finial of Christ Chapel, (built in 2019). The 32-foot self-supporting brick dome was clad in copper standing seam panels and topped with the 5-foot decorative copper pinecone finial. Each panel was meticulously laid out by hand and required a compound curve to fit the dome structure. Winner of 2021 North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) award.

St. Anne and Child, Paroise Ste-Anne-des-Chênes, MB

In 1904, a statue of St. Anne and child was installed in an exterior niche of the church. It has remained there for more than a century, as the years and the elements slowly took their toll. However, it is much beloved, so the parish reached out to Heather & Little to perform needed repairs.

Properly restoring and replicating sheet metal zinc and copper statuary requires a sensitive mix of artistry plus years of hands-on experience with traditional metal working techniques.

We specialize in creating sheet metal statues, working from the original, or sometimes only with historic drawing or photos. Using traditional and modern methods, a structural armature is covered by hand-formed metal sheets hammered into or against forms using a technique referred to as repose or repoussé, (a French term meaning “pushed up), followed by chasing, (or embossing) where the image is further refined. From start to finish, you can depend on Heather & Little to take great care with your project, whether we are removing and transporting your statue to our workshop, restoring your statuary, or returning it safely to its home restored to its former glory.
